Enrichment activities can reduce kennel stress by 40% and increase adoption rates by up to 70%. (American Humane)

PAWsitive Play

At PAWSitive Play, we believe every animal deserves moments of joy, curiosity, and comfort—no matter their circumstances. Our mission is to create and deliver homemade enrichment toys, like snuffle mats and puzzle feeders, to local shelters to brighten the days of pets waiting for their forever homes.

What We Do
We bring communities together through creativity and compassion. Volunteers of all ages craft enrichment toys that encourage play, mental stimulation, and stress relief for shelter animals. Each handmade item is a small act of love that helps transform a kennel into a place of comfort and hope.

Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Center: Crafting with Compassion

Volunteers partner with local senior centers to lead hands-on arts and crafts sessions that bring joy to both people and pets. Seniors create homemade dog toys, such as the plastic bottle sock toy—a simple yet fun enrichment project where treats are hidden inside a bottle and wrapped in a sock for curious pups to discover. These sessions provide seniors with a sense of purpose, creativity, and connection while supporting shelter animals in need of play and comfort.

Kids & Teens Clubs: Creating Comfort & Kindness

Our youth volunteers design no-sew blanket projects for shelter animals and write heartfelt PAWNotes—personal messages of encouragement—to accompany each creation. Through this program, kids and teens learn empathy, teamwork, and the impact of giving back. Each blanket and note becomes a warm reminder that every animal is loved and cared for, even before finding a forever home.

Monthly “Play Packs”: Delivering Joy Year-Round

Every month, our volunteers assemble and deliver Play Packs filled with enrichment toys, treats, and comforting items for local shelters. These bundles ensure that animals have ongoing opportunities for play, mental stimulation, and relaxation. Volunteers can help by collecting donations, assembling packs, or participating in delivery days to see firsthand the joy their efforts bring to shelter pets.
